Along with your change of clothes and shoes, I recommend bringing basic things like a hair brush, hair spray for fly-aways, touch-up makeup – powder, lip gloss, etc. If you have a sport jersey, instrument or activity that you want to include, bring those items as well.

What else should I bring with me?

My favorite time to photograph seniors is a couple of hours before sunset – the golden hour when the light is warm and beautiful. If you are a morning person, first thing in the morning is also a great option. However, we can make any time of the day work.

When is the best time of day for my session?

2-3 clothing changes are just about right for the length of time we will be shooting. I always recommend choosing clothing that you feel great in – if you feel great, you’ll be confident, comfortable, and more relaxed. Layers and accessories are a great option, and can add some fun to your look without having to completely change! I will send you a welcome guide as well as meet with you in person or via zoom to talk about any clothing questions you have!

How many clothing changes can I bring?

The length depends upon the session you choose, the number of outfits and the number of locations. A typical session with wardrobe changes runs 1 - 2 hours.

How long will the session last?

Of course! I encourage you to bring someone that will help you relax and have fun. You may want to warn your guest because I often enlist them to assist me in holding reflectors or making you laugh. I am happy to include your parent/friend/sibling in a couple shots as well if that is important to you.

Can I bring my parents or a friend?

I will watch the weather closely as your Session approaches. If it looks like rain, we’ll get in touch and reschedule to a day/time as soon as possible. My studio is also an option, and we can shoot there as well.

What if it rains?

Together we will talk about the look and feel that you want for your portraits and I can recommend a great location. You might have a location that is particularly meaningful to you – maybe you want a more urban feel with graffiti and grungy backgrounds, or you love the outdoors – MN lakes and nature – we can find a great location for that. Or perhaps you’re somewhere in the middle. Whatever your style is, we will find a location that you love.

How do I choose a location for my senior portraits?

Senior Portraits are typically taken the summer before your Senior year. Summer schedules are much more flexible and the weather is much more predictable. However, many Seniors choose to have their portraits taken in the fall after school has started. Just make sure you check with your school about their yearbook photo policies and deadlines. Most MN high school yearbook deadlines range from mid-October to early December.

How long before I can see my images?

At the end of your session we will schedule your viewing appointment.
It is scheduled about 2 weeks after your shoot. We will go through your entire gallery in person or via zoom and you can choose the products or package you want at our meeting.
